It was explained above that the mold needs three things in order to be able to develop. Moisture, oxygen and heat. Of course we want to keep it warm inside the house or in some places we can hardly avoid the heat. We need oxygen to breathe. There remains the factor moisture, which is to be eliminated.
Where and how can wetness occur in the living space?
Condensation – This manifests itself when the moisture in the air is reflected by heat on walls, the ceiling or windows. There it cools down and can be decisive for the development of mold.
Heat transfer- The colder the wall, the greater the probability that water vapor will precipitate. Behind furniture, a room is often heated less and the passage also reaches these places bad. Especially in the cold season there can be more mold.
Cracks in the masonry – In this way, the moisture penetrates from the outside into the apartment or the home. The mold attacks its way and can eventually spread inside the apartment.
Inadequate building drying – Already during the construction of the house, the client has to make sure that the walls, floor and ceiling are sufficiently dried. Devices, such as the building dryer or dehumidifier do this measure. Other construction defects, such as cracks in the masonry, should be denounced.
If the roof or roof is leaking, water can penetrate. Maybe it’s just a trickle making its way inside. Especially in the attic, it is often very warm in the summer, so that forms mold.
Damaged gutters and downpipes
If these permanently direct the water against the building, it ensures a lasting wetness, which can be the origin of mold growth.
Will water penetrate the basement during heavy rain? Are doors or windows leaking? Or was there a pipe break? If a larger amount of water has found its way into the interior, sufficient drying should then be provided.
Even the inhabitants themselves can be guilty. In airtight buildings, often in particularly energy-efficient buildings, a faulty or inadequate air intake may require subsequent mold removal.
Of course, getting rid of mold is only necessary if it is available. Before we go into measures of prevention, we first look at the places in the house or in the apartment, where the mushroom likes to spread.
