Our third stop during ours Thailand trip with Green Pearls was the colorful island of Koh Samui. After just two hours of waiting at the airport in Phuket – it was the most terrible airport I have ever been to – the arrival on Koh Samui was a real relief. This airport was so very different from Bangkok or Phuket and almost exuded a Caribbean flair. Which also extends over the entire island. Because the drive to the hotel also showed that the island is full of joie de vivre. An insane number of ways to enjoy the island’s nightlife. Not necessarily the right thing for new parents, of course. But the hustle and bustle has rubbed off a little and the anticipation for our stay on Koh Samui continued to increase. Arrived at Tongsai Bay, then another surprise was waiting for us …
There was probably no better view of the dreamy bay from Tongsai Bay than from one of the large terraces of the suites.
Even the large lobby left our mouths open. Not only was the large reception room impressive, but also the view of the bay from there. We were driven to our accommodation in small, electronically operated club cars. And here was the biggest surprise of the holiday, because we were allowed to stay in a huge suite with a wonderful terrace. We had counted on a cottage that would certainly have been no less beautiful but much smaller.
In any case, our domicile turned out to be the perfect photo location and I fed my Insta feed properly during the days on Koh Samui. But not only the large terrace was special at Tongsai Bay. The whole philosophy behind this resort is impressive. The founder of the hotel spent thirty nights on the beach and looked from there to see which places would be best for the accommodation. No tree was felled to build Tongsai Bay and respect for wildlife is extremely important. Much is based on a cycle of resources and on using as little of them as possible.
There were culinary delights in two restaurants
For us as young parents, it was particularly important on vacation that we didn’t have to drive too far in the evening. Because Romy was just tired at some point and had to go to bed quickly. In other words: we were always a little tied to the hotel. Thank goodness that wasn’t bad at Tongsai Bay. Rather the opposite was the case, because the two restaurants that were available had really delicious food and finally vegan cuisine too.
In the beach restaurant there was a cross kitchen with a great view of the beautiful bay. At the reception there was the traditional Thai restaurant where I ate such a delicious tofu dish. In the evening we could use our terrace for drinks and still had the wonderful view of the Gulf of Thailand.
A pond world, the sea and two pools provided plenty of water around us
During the day we simply enjoyed the relaxed life by the pool or by the sea. Because even if we weren’t lucky with the weather all the time, it was mostly sunny and very warm. That’s why Romy often needed to cool down. The large pool was ideal for this and really impressed me with its different levels and small islets. There was also a half moon pool for those guests who wanted to be spared the noise of children. And of course the sea, which was open to everyone.
And if something was missing, you could be in town in about twenty minutes and do all your shopping in the big supermarket. On the way there we saw a lot of street food stands and hustle and bustle everywhere. In general, we had the impression that the people on Koh Samui lead happy and relaxed lives. We took this feeling with us from the island. And Tongsai Bay gave us the best time with all the amenities on Koh Samui.
That was it with articles about our stations in Thailand. But there will be another video with all the highlights and another post about my visit to Soi Dog. This trip was an unbelievably fantastic experience and I am incredibly grateful that we were able to collect these great impressions.
