You’ve got your second COVID-19 vaccine dose & you’re ready to book that luxurious post-pandemic honeymoon. Not so almost! Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as that.
The future is looking cautiously brighter for planning travel (speaking really for countries fortunate enough to have vaccination efforts underway). But, securing your Covid-19 vaccine doesn’t necessarily mean you can book a honeymoon flight to any country you please. Many countries’ borders remain closed to foreigners. Others still require quarantine upon arrival, regardless of proof of a negative Covid-19 test.
However, there are a few destinations that are making honeymoon travel plans easier for fully vaccinated couples. The paradise island nation of Seychelles is one of them.
In January, the Seychelles Tourism Board announced that travelers with proof of a “complete dose” of a vaccine (meaning two doses if required) at least two weeks prior to arrival, plus a negative Covid-19 test taken less than 72 hours prior to traveling may enjoy the islands without any quarantine time.
Maybe this sounds a little complicated. But, it’s a much more ‘open’ situation than most other countries, particularly for closed-off island nations that traditionally serve as popular honeymoon destinations.
The press release also stated that vaccinated travelers must also stay in hotels or guesthouses that have been certified for so-called “Category 1” travelers. As of now, there are 532 such places to choose from, which is where our wanderlust research comes into play …
Why Honeymoon in Seychelles?
If you’ve never heard of this tiny island nation perfect for honeymoons, we wouldn’t fault you. Situated a thousand miles off the eastern coast of Africa, Seychelles isn’t your typical, quick Caribbean getaway. The archipelago is made up of 115 stunning islands with white sand beaches surrounded by deep blue, Indian Ocean waters.
Long been a honeymoon destination for newlyweds of Europe, Seychelles has recently become a worldwide destination thanks to its top-rated beaches and world-class scuba diving. Thanks to its isolated nature, the islands’ eco-systems are unique. Seychelles offers wildlife lovers glimpses of varied flora and fauna not found in many other corners of the world. If you’ve ever dreamed of honeymooning on an exotic, private island, this might be the destination for you.
To help you plan, we’ve gone through the list of COVID-19 “Category 1” approved hotels & guesthouses and chosen our favorites to help plan a ‘Dream Seychelles Honeymoon’ for you. I may have even forwarded the list to my own husband, after all, we’re # foreverhoneymooning …
